Each month when our local demonstrators meet we have a swap theme. This month the theme is punch or framelit art. My inspiration came from a posting by another demonstrator from New Zealand. She used the Sprig Punch on page 29 of the Holiday Catalog to make her project. I ordered the tutorial from her and made one. Unfortunately, I am recovering from an injury to my thumb and could not make additional ones for the swap because it hurt too much. This demonstrator's name is Jacque Williams. Her tutorial is available to purchase and if you google her name her blog will appear. This is Jacque's version of the project.
I decided I really liked her project (and will make more as soon as the thumb heals) so began to think about using the In The Woods Framelits Dies (#147919) and the coordinating stamp set; Winter Woods (#147658 for wood mount or #147661 for clear mount. Again, there is a bundle available that saves ten percent over individual purchase (#149991 for wood mount stamps and dies or #149992 for the clear mount stamps and dies).
Here is my project.
To begin with I purchased the wooden spools from amazon.com. I cut a piece of Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper (#146921) and glued it to the spool. I used a long toothpick and rubbed it gently over a Soft Suede Classic Stampin' Pad (#147115) to give it some color. Then I stamped the two large tree images from the Winter Woods Stamp Set with a Shaded Spruce Classic Stampin' Pad (#147088) and die cut them with the two tree dies. If you look at the image you will notice that the tree image on top is able to be popped up to give a 3D effect. After attaching the two trees together and popping the top image out I attached it to the toothpick. I repeated this project for the other side of the toothpick so that you can see a tree from front and back. I attached a mini star to the top of the tree. Finally I stamped the fawn image from the Dashing Deer Bundle (#149934 for wood mount stamps and dies or #149935 for clear mount stamps and dies) with the Soft Suede Classic Stampin' Pad and die cut it. I attached it to the wooden spool with a Stampin' Dimensional (#104430).
Here is what my grove of trees looks like.
